Scotland on my Mind by Dan King

On the second day at Dornoch, after our morning round, we went over to Tain to play that evening. I wish I could report much about Tain, but it did pale in comparison. We played it in a constant rain, and it was getting toward nightfall when we played. We only saw one other twosome on the course and the head pro seemed to have the impression that we were crazy Americans to go out in the rain. There was one outstanding hole, the par-4 11th hole called the Alps which is similar to Prestwicks 17th hole, also called the Alps. Shoot over a pair of grass covered sand dunes, rising some 20 feet in the air, with a completely hidden green beyond. The feature that made Tain's Alps more enjoyable was a very receptive green. The entire putting surface was in a bowl, making the green that much easier to hit from the other side of the Alps.
Talk to you tomorrow.
